Heart Signal (하트시그널) is a South Korean dating reality show on Channel A. Season 1 aired in 2017, followed by Season 2 in 2018, Season 3 in 2020, Season 4 in 2023, and now Season 5 in 2026. That’s a track record very few reality formats can claim. Wikipedia

Heart Signal: Overview

How Does It Work?

The show follows eight people living together for one month as they get to know each other and go on dates. Every night, each cast member sends an anonymous text message to another cast member to show their romantic interest — but they are not allowed to directly confess their love. Meanwhile, a panel of celebrities and experts watches the show, analyzing the cast members’ actions and trying to predict who will text who. Wikipedia

It sounds simple. It absolutely is not. That 10 PM anonymous signal moment is genuinely nail-biting reality TV every single episode.

What’s Different About Season 5?

Season 5 pivots away from the show’s signature slow-burn romance. According to early reception, it’s “spicier and faster than before.” The Korea HeraldOneulkorea

Panelist Kim In-na described the new season as emotionally volatile, noting that feelings are already tangled from the first episode and participants are “moving with sincerity and speed.” Lee Sang Min even floated the possibility that there might not be a single final couple at all — which would be a first for the franchise. New panelist Tsuki of K-pop group Billlie brings a fresh international perspective, and her fanbase is already generating major buzz around the season.

Why It Still Works After Almost a Decade

The show has carved out a distinct identity over the years, favoring quiet, emotionally resonant moments over the heightened sensuality of shows like Single’s Inferno or the high-stakes ex dynamics of EXchange. Its influence has also extended beyond the screen — for more on how Korean reality shows are shaping pop culture, check out TechnoSports Entertainment. The Korea Herald

The format is rooted in something universally relatable: the terrifying gap between what we feel and what we’re willing to show. That’s why it travels so well globally. Learn more about the full show history on the Heart Signal Wikipedia page.
