Bollywood just witnessed a new chapter being written — and the man holding the pen is Ranveer Singh. Dhurandhar: The Revenge has officially dethroned every Hindi film that came before it to claim the crown of the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time in India. And the ride isn’t over yet.
Dhurandhar From ₹789 Crore to History: How It Happened
At the close of business on April 1, 2026, Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Hindi) stood at Rs. 784.50 crore nett approx, just Rs. 5 crore short of its predecessor, Dhurandhar. By the time you read this, the Ranveer Singh starrer had already bridged that gap, emerging as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time in India.
The film is now set to cross the Rs. 800 crore nett mark and is on course to eventually hit the Rs. 1000 crore nett before the end of its theatrical run. Yes, you read that right — ₹1000 crore. For a Hindi film, that’s uncharted territory.

What Made This Record Possible?
Dhurandhar: The Revenge capitalised on the immense goodwill of the original film along with a substantial hike in ticket prices. The combination of a loyal fanbase, strong word of mouth, and a sequel that delivered on every promise turned this into a genuine box office phenomenon.
It is already set to face a formidable challenge from Ramayana: Part One later this year, a film that has the potential to redefine Hindi cinema box office.
This is also noteworthy as it marks the second time Ranveer Singh has led a Hindi film to a national box office record — a feat no other Bollywood actor has matched twice.
According to Wikipedia’s article on Bollywood, the Hindi film industry has seen a steady evolution in its commercial scale over the decades — and this record is the latest proof of that growth.
