If you discovered Dark Winds through Netflix — like millions of viewers globally — you’re probably already asking the same question: when does Season 4 land on the platform? The good news is we now have confirmed dates for some regions, with more on the horizon. Here’s the complete picture, region by region.
| Region | Season 4 Netflix Release |
|---|---|
| Latin America | April 5, 2026 (confirmed) |
| Netherlands & select Europe | April 5, 2026 (confirmed) |
| United States | July 4, 2026 (expected) |
| UK & other international regions | TBD (likely later in 2026) |
What’s Dark Winds Season 4 About?
Dark Winds Season 4 premiered on AMC and AMC+ in the United States on February 15, 2026. The eight-episode season expands the show’s scope considerably — this time, Lt. Joe Leaphorn, Chee, and Manuelito leave the Navajo Nation reservation and head to 1970s Los Angeles, where a missing Navajo girl case draws them deep into the web of an organized crime network. It’s the most ambitious season yet, both geographically and in terms of storytelling scale.
In a milestone for the series, star Zahn McClarnon steps behind the camera for the first time this season as a director — a meaningful creative development for a show that has always been deeply committed to authentic Indigenous representation.
Dark Winds: New Cast Members in Season 4
Joining the returning ensemble of Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon, Jessica Matten, and Deanna Allison are some exciting new faces: Franka Potente, Isabel DeRoy Olson, Chaske Spencer, Luke Barnett, and Titus Welliver. A. Martinez also returns in his recurring role.
How Has the Show Performed on Netflix?
The numbers speak for themselves. Since arriving on Netflix, Dark Winds has accumulated 19.2 million viewing equivalents and 87.5 million hours watched on the platform. It has appeared in the US TV Top 10 for 41 individual days and charted in the daily top 10 of 29 other countries — a genuinely impressive performance for a critically acclaimed but modestly budgeted AMC noir drama.
Why Might US Viewers Have to Wait Until July?
It comes down to the AMC-Netflix output deal structure. Netflix is expected to hold rights through July 4, 2027, and based on the pattern of previous seasons arriving roughly a year after their network debut, July 4, 2026 is the working estimate for the US drop. AMC would naturally prefer audiences visit its own platform first for the newest season.
