The podcast awards landscape just shifted dramatically. Giggly Squad took home the coveted Podcast of the Year honor at the 2026 iHeartPodcast Awards, cementing its position as one of entertainment’s most influential audio properties. This win reflects the explosive growth of comedy podcasts in mainstream media and signals where listener preferences are heading next.

Giggly Squad’s Historic Podcast Awards Victory

Giggly Squad’s win at the 2026 iHeartPodcast Awards means way more than just another trophy on the shelf. The show, hosted by Jared Bailey and Corey Scherer, has built a loyal fanbase by doing something simple: keeping it real. Their raw, unfiltered comedy and genuine friendship dynamics resonate with millions of listeners worldwide.

This award validates what audiences have been telling us all along. They’d rather hear authentic, personality-driven content than another polished corporate production. The show proves it—people connect with relatability over production value, every single time.

What Makes Podcast Awards Matter in 2026

The iHeartPodcast Awards have become the go-to metric for audio entertainment credibility. Here’s the key difference: unlike streaming platform metrics that stay locked behind corporate walls, these awards offer transparent recognition of listener engagement and cultural impact.

Industry insiders now track these winners as closely as Oscar winners. That’s telling. It signals which creators will land the big sponsorship deals and licensing opportunities in the year ahead. Winning here translates directly to audience growth, advertising revenue, and mainstream visibility.

The Comedy Podcast Boom

Comedy dominates the conversation right now. The format naturally favors personality-driven storytelling—that’s why it works so well in audio.

Giggly Squad’s victory reflects something bigger: listeners are ditching traditional radio and late-night TV for on-demand comedy podcasts. The awards landscape now includes dozens of comedy-focused categories, which proves the genre actually makes money. Networks like iHeartMedia know this approach drives subscriber growth across their entire ecosystem.

This shift is reshaping how the entertainment industry makes its money, fundamentally.

Here’s what we’re really wondering: how long before podcast awards carry the same cultural weight as major film or television honors? That moment might already be here.
