Record of Ragnarok Season 4: Release Date, Battles & Everything Fans Need to Know

With Season 3 dropping on December 10, 2025, Record of Ragnarok fans are already hungry for the next chapter. After nine epic rounds between gods and humanity’s greatest warriors, the score stands at 5-4 in favor of the gods, leaving mankind dangerously close to extinction. Will Netflix renew this anime phenomenon for a fourth season? Here’s everything we know.

Record of Ragnarok Season 4 Renewal Status & Predictions

Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed Season 4, which is typical given Season 3 just launched. However, several factors point toward renewal. The anime has maintained strong viewership across three seasons, and there’s substantial manga material remaining to adapt, with four complete rounds still unfinished in the tournament.

Where Season 3 Left Us: The Current Score

After nine brutal rounds, humanity faces a critical situation. Apollo defeated King Leonidas in Round 9, giving the gods a 5-4 lead. With only four matches remaining, humanity must win at least three to survive extinction.

The Score:

• Gods: 5 wins (Thor, Zeus, Shiva, Beelzebub, Apollo)
• Humanity: 4 wins (Kojiro Sasaki, Jack the Ripper, Buddha, Qin Shi Huang)

Upcoming Battles in Season 4

Round 10: Soji Okita vs Susanoo

Humanity’s best swordsman faces the Japanese God of Storms. Soji Okita served as the Shinsengumi 1st Unit Captain and earned the fearsome nickname “Sword Demon” for his ruthless killing instinct. He’ll clash with Susanoo, the “Sword God” from Japanese mythology, in what promises to be the most intense sword battle yet.

Round 11: Simo Häyhä vs Loki

The deadliest sniper in human history takes on the God of Mischief. Finnish sniper Simo Häyhä reportedly killed 542 Soviet soldiers during the 1939 Winter War, earning him legendary status. Facing off against Norse trickster god Loki creates an intriguing matchup between precision and unpredictability.

Round 12: Sakata Kintoki vs Odin

Japan’s greatest demon slayer from the Heian period confronts the All-Father himself. Known for superhuman strength and legendary exploits, Sakata Kintoki will face the leader of the Norse pantheon in what could be the tournament’s most powerful clash.

What Makes Record of Ragnarok Compelling?

The anime thrives on its unique premise of pitting historical figures against mythological gods in fights to the death. Each episode dives deep into combatant backstories, creating emotional investment before spectacular battles unfold. The animation quality improved significantly from Season 1 to Season 2 when Yuneta Company took over production, and Season 3 maintains those high standards.

The series expertly blends action with mythology, philosophy, and history, making it more than just flashy fight scenes. Characters like Tesla’s scientific genius facing Beelzebub’s demonic powers or Leonidas’s warrior spirit against Apollo’s divine arrogance provide compelling narratives.

How Long Between Seasons?

Netflix has taken varying amounts of time between seasons:

• Season 1 to Season 2: 19 months (June 2021 to January 2023)
• Season 2 Part 2: 6 months later (July 2023)
• Season 2 to Season 3: 29 months (July 2023 to December 2025)

If production begins soon, we could potentially see Season 4 in late 2026 or early 2027. The extended wait for Season 3 was likely due to production scheduling and ensuring quality animation for the increasingly complex battles.

Past Season Performance

The series maintains a TV-14 rating and is available with Japanese audio and multiple subtitle options. Each season has improved upon its predecessor, particularly in fight choreography and character development.
