The Shows, Explained

Made in Korea 2 picks up nine years after its acclaimed first season, with Hyun Bin reprising his role as Baek Ki Tae, a man now sitting at the peak of the power he once fought so ruthlessly to win. Jung Woo Sung returns too, promising round two of their high-stakes, decades-spanning rivalry.

The Ordinary Jackpot flips the classic “lottery changes everything” trope on its head. Gong Eun Tae (Lee Jun Hyuk) wins big, only to realize the money isn’t the real transformation — he is. It’s a warm, workplace-comedy take on self-reinvention.

A Love Other Than Yours is for anyone who’s ever wondered what happens after the honeymoon phase fades. Namgoong Ho and Lee Mi Do, a couple ten years deep into their relationship, navigate the quiet, unexpected cracks that familiarity can bring — a refreshingly grounded romance.

The Scandal is this month’s biggest swing: a lavish Joseon-set drama starring Son Ye Jin and Ji Chang Wook as two dangerously skilled players in a game of seduction and deception, with Nana’s widowed character getting tangled in the fallout. Expect palace intrigue, sharp dialogue, and a lot of tension.

Dive Into You leans full fantasy — a soul-swap story where actress Yoon Ha Na’s spirit ends up in her twin brother’s body after an accident, sending her back in time to try to save her first love from dying. High-concept, high-emotion.

Mission: Mompossible centers two very different mothers — one who’s sacrificed everything for her kids, one who’s lived entirely for herself — whose children’s lives become unexpectedly intertwined. Expect the kind of family drama that sneaks up on you emotionally.

Boy, With Caution closes out the month with a tender BL story between a substitute teacher who’s lost his sense of direction and the student who reignites something in him. Quiet, character-driven, and a little bittersweet.

Why September’s Lineup Stands Out

What makes this batch interesting isn’t just star power — though there’s plenty, from Hyun Bin to Son Ye Jin to Ji Chang Wook — it’s the genre range. You’ve got political thrillers, soul-swap fantasy, slow-burn realism, and BL romance all dropping within three weeks of each other. Whatever mood you’re in, there’s a premiere date for it.

Streaming access is spread across Disney+, Netflix, tvN, KBS, Channel A, and Viki, so it’s worth checking which platforms you already have before the month gets busy.

Final Thoughts

September 2026 isn’t just another month of K-drama releases — it’s a genuinely varied slate that rewards binge-watchers and casual viewers alike. Pick your platform, pick your genre, and settle in.
