Fortnite is in the headlines again as leaks, crossovers, and in-game updates are keeping the battle royale experience fresh and exciting. From a Star Wars takeover to a Tony Hawk surprise, here’s everything fans should know before jumping into May.

3 Big Fortnite Updates: Star Wars Season, Tony Hawk Crossover & Item Shop Overhaul

An Intergalactic Adventure: Goes All-In on Star Wars for Chapter 6 Season 3

Epic Games is said to be readying to deliver a major Star Wars-themed season, kicking off on May 2, 2025. This will effectively be a full-blown Chapter 6 Season 3 galactic experience, as opposed to the one-off limited-time collaborations we have previously experienced. This mini-season is only slated to last for 37 days, until June 8, making it one of Fortnite’s shortest ever.

Unlike other recent crossovers, this time, Star Wars will be threaded right into the current Fortnite story. Leakers such as ShiinaBR are claiming the original trilogy will be the focus, with characters such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, and possibly Chewbacca, Jar Jar Binks, and Palpatine likely to appear. We’ve also seen rumors of themed POIs, new bosses, and mechanics such as Force Lightning and Death Star strikes. Multiple new skins, such as Chewbacca and C-3PO, are planned for the Battle Pass and Item Shop.

Leaked Crossovers Galore: Tony Hawk, Doom, Hitman, and More Set to Join Fortnite

The crossover universe of Fortnite is expanding once more. The leaks, from alleged leaker ShpeshalNick, also list skins based on Doom, Death Stranding, Mortal Kombat, and Hitman franchises, as well as pixelated variants of Marvel characters and an NBA player. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Double Dragon, and even Jack Black are a few of the rumoured characters in development.

The biggest surprise? A crossover event with Tony Hawk Pro Skater is indeed in the works, which will seemingly run in conjunction with the July 11 launch of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. A playable version of Tony Hawk himself is believed to be included.

Item Shop Upgrade: New ‘Leaving Today’ Tag Alerts Players Before Skins Go

Epic quietly rolled out a neat little feature in the Fortnite Item Shop. A new “Leaving Today” tag now indicates items slated to disappear in the next daily reset. And while that’s a small but useful addition to help players be confident about last-minute purchases, it also signals Epic’s ongoing focus on quality-of-life tweaks based on player feedback.
