AMD Radeon RX 7000M RDNA3 GPUs officially coming for Laptops

AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 7000 ‘RDNA 3’ Mobility GPU for the current generation of laptops powered by Ryzen 7000 CPUs. AMD has announced four new Radeon RX 7000 Mobility GPUs for laptops based on the newest RDNA 3 core architecture. The Radeon RX 7600M XT, Radeon RX 7600M, Radeon RX 7700S, and Radeon RX 7600S are the most recent SKUs.

The chips include the brand new Navi 33 GPU core, which has a die size of 204mm2 and is built on the 6nm production node, as compared to the Navi 31 GPUs, which use the TSMC 5nm process node for the GPU die.

Both the Radeon RX 7600M XT and RX 7700S include 32 Compute Units with 2048 shader processors, 8 GB of GDDR6 memory at 18 Gbps, and a 128-bit bus interface. Both GPUs include 32 MB of Infinity cache. These chips have a power range of 75W to 120W.

Then there are the AMD Radeon RX 7600M and Radeon RX 7600S, which have 28 Compute Units or 1792 shader processors and keep the 8 GB 128-bit memory configuration but with slower 16 Gbps GDDR6 dies.

These chips have the same 32 MB Infinity Cache. All GPUs include AV1 Encode and Decode, as well as Radeon’s latest Smart Technologies such as SmartShift and the different SmartAccess suites (Memory/Graphics/Storage/Video).

AMD’s Radeon RX 7600M XT graphics card will compete with the GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB, which has already been superseded by the new RTX 4060 Mobility GPUs. The other RX 7000 Mobility GPUs should fall under the RX 7600M XT category because it is the highest spec so far, but AMD will be introducing higher-end Navi 32 models for laptops in the near future or shortly after they arrive on the desktop platform.

According to AMD, the AMD Radeon RX 7000 RDNA 3 Mobility GPUs can provide up to 30% quicker transcoding performance, 60% greater battery life (when gaming), and 33% better gaming FPS (Forza Horizon 5). These laptops will also get SmartShift RSR, which allows upscaling technology to be detached from the GPU, offering extra gaming performance. This will be available in the first half of 2023, with GPUs available in a variety of laptops by the beginning of February.
