Apple is most likely to Announce its new MacBook Air variant With M2 Chip at its WWDC Event

On June 6, Apple will hold its WWDC 2022 event to unveil iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13, watchOS 9, and much more. It was previously speculated that Apple might introduce new hardware at the WWDC presentation.

We’ve heard that the company is planning to unveil new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, and a 27-inch display with a mini-LED panel in the coming months. According to a recent claim, Apple will most likely unveil its updated MacBook Air with an M2 chip at the WWDC 2022 event.

Mark Gurman broke the story in his monthly Power On email, implying that a revamped MacBook Air with an M2 chip is one of the most likely products to be announced at Apple’s WWDC 2022 event. Even though traces of “reality” were detected in Apple’s source code earlier this year, Gurman believes it’s unlikely that Apple’s AR Headset would be shown at the event.

In terms of new hardware… though Apple’s upcoming mixed-reality headset is full steam ahead — underscored by the recent demonstration of the device to the company’s board — I’d be wary of expecting a full-blown presentation for developers and consumers next week.

Apple will be launching its new MacBook Air variant this year with an M2 chip

While it’s possible, that Gurman believes Apple planned to unveil the new MacBook Air at the WWDC event, supply chain concerns have pushed back the launch date.

If there’s any hardware at WWDC, it will likely be on the Mac side. The company has been aiming to launch the next MacBook Air with M2 chips at the conference. The recent supply chain crunch due to Covid-related closures in China has complicated that, but developers say that Apple employees are increasingly using next-generation MacBook Airs with their apps. That’s a sign that the new Mac is close.

Even while a new MacBook Air with an M2 chip sounds appealing, Apple’s upcoming iOS 16, iPad 16, and other software changes will be the focus of the WWDC presentation. According to reports, iOS 16 will have Always-On display compatibility for iPhone 14 Pro versions as well as “social network-like capabilities in Messages.” If you’re not familiar with Apple’s WWDC event, here’s what to expect this year.
