The Singapore national Match Poker team has been huge on the scene since a stunning performance in the inaugural Asian Nations Cup in 2013. Their accomplishments include a 2013 IFP Asians Nations Cup Bronze Medal, a 2018 IFMP Asian Nations Pair Challenge gold medal, and IFMP Asian Nations Cup 4th place.
Now, the revamped Singapore Poker team for the Nations Cup’21 has the highly-skilled and well-experienced poker chips Singapore player Lisa Tan Meiling as captain. With Tan at the helm, the SG Match Poker team are the only female-led team in the finals. Here’s the lineup for the tournament:
- Lisa Tan Meiling (Captain)
The top performer in recent Nations Cups, Tan was also the first woman to win the Manila Megastack Event. She has also been an inspiration for women to get into Match Poker.
- Zefirelli Noordin (Vice Captain and Assistant Team Manager)
A semi-retired investor, Zefirelli had a crucial role in helping Singapore go to the Nation’s Cup. He also works as a liaison for organizing and supporting the team.
- Darren Wee Hee Joon (Team Coach)
Another coach for Team Singapore Poke, he is known for his “run it once” tactics and in-game tactical changes.
- Phua Tzai Wei (Team Coach)
A former captain of Team Singapore, Phua won a Pokerstarts Platinum Pass upon winning the Manila Megastack in 2018 and securing a 19th place finish in the WSOP online poker main event in 2020.
- Lim Min Soon (Team Consultant)
This poker veteran can take pride in a stunning achievement: the triple crown of the Singapore Poker Championship series.
- Lin Ruizi
A lawyer by day, he also specializes in cash game playing. He also was instrumental for the Asia qualifiers of the Pokerstars Singapore team.
- Keith Joel Seah Jia Qiang
He is an entrepreneur and a giant in the Singapore poker community, having placed 2nd in the APT Championships Philippines 2017 Main Event. He also belongs to the qualifying squad.
- Norbert Koh
He is a regular of final tables in both the WSOP and Asian Tournaments. His 27th place finish last year puts him in the top 10 of Singapore poker’s all-time money list. He also is ranked 2nd in the Global Poker Index Singapore.
- Phyllis Chua
A recreational online poker and Singapore poker player who started in 2015, she has gone from acing cash games and getting into tournaments. She indeed will be someone to look out for in the IFMP Cup!
- Ivan Tan
The player is regarded as a pioneer of poker in Singapore, having finished runner-up in an APPT Macau Main Event in 2007.
- Feng Zhao
A star in the online playing world, he is top 10 on Singapore’s all-time money list. He is also currently ranked number 1 in the Global Poker Index (Singapore).
