The Oppo Reno8 Pro will arrive with a 6.7″ OLED display with an FHD+ resolution, the screen has a refresh rate of 120Hz. The panel has been made by BOE. On the front, the device sports a 32MP selfie shooter.

On the rear, the device has a 50MP Sony IMX76 primary sensor with support for Optical Image Stabilization. The setup is a triple camera one, however, we do not know what the specifications of the secondary sensors will be. Assuming that this device is similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro, we can expect an 8MP telephoto lens and a 2MP macro shooter.

The Oppo Reno8 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max chip that has been paired with Oppo’s MariSilicon X co-processor. In terms of battery life, it packs a 4,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging support.

Are Oppo and OnePlus releasing rebadged editions of each other’s devices?

Looking at the renders and the color options Oppo will be releasing the Reno8 Pro in, it appears to be a rebadged edition of the OnePlus 10 Pro. Most of the specifications are identical with the exception of the chip. The OnePlus 10 Pro features the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chip while the Reno8 Pro features a MediaTek chip.

The design of the Reno8 is also similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro. As per recent trends, Oppo has been releasing devices similar to OnePlus with minor changes. It appears to be taking the route Samsung is on by releasing rebadged versions of its own devices.

The Reno8 Pro looks exactly the same without the OnePlus logo

Considering that the Reno8 Series is a flagship caliber lineup, we expected Oppo to offer something new at least in terms of design if not specifications. However, the brand appears to be inclined on taking this approach. OnePlus has conventionally stuck with Qualcomm chips for its devices, and Oppo on the other hand switches between Qualcomm and MediaTek chips, so by integrating MediaTek’s flagship chip into its latest flagship lineup, Oppo appears to be marketing it as a different device.

Apart from this, the Reno8 Pro will be run on a different custom OS on top of Android 12, in terms of storage configurations, we can expect Oppo to offer an 8GB+128GB version and a 12GB+256GB version. In terms of pricing, it can retail for $899 or 69,000 INR for the base variant.
