The Google Pixel 6 Pro costs 899 USD and the Google Pixel 6 is available at 599 USD. On the other hand, the new Google Pixel 6a will hit the market at just 449 USD. Now, the most common question that obviously comes to our mind is HOW? Let’s try to find out the answer. Through this, we will get the differences between Pixel 6a and Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro also.

Before the deep dive, let you know that Google didn’t skip some key signature features. That means these are common for the entire Pixel 6 lineup. The Pixel 6a packs Google’s in-house Tensor Chip with its full strength along with the other security and processing powers. Users will get 5 years of updates as well.

Reasons why Pixel 6a costs $449

It is obvious there are multiple features and hardware which are lagging for the Pixel 6a in comparison with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Let’s check those out –

This section is the first one may notice. Both the existing models have a primary 50MP Octa PD Quad Bayer wide camera, whereas the new Pixel 6a is equipped with a 12.2MP dual pixel wide camera. This lens has an f/1.7 aperture and misses laser detect auto focus. There is normal autofocus with dual pixel phase detection instead. Though the Pixel 6a doesn’t have the telephoto lens, which is expected, Google added the same 12MP Ultra Wide module. The front camera shadows the Pixel 6. In the camera features, this new smartphone can’t provide the Motion Mode. Rest all other features like Night Sight, Live HDR+, Motion Autofocus, etc. all are present. Lastly, it has both OIS and EIS.

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have 6.4-inch FHD+ and 6.7-inch QHD+ screens respectively. In the case of Pixel 6a, the screen size has been reduced to 6.1-inch with 429 pixel density and 60Hz refresh rate support. The protection also changed to Gorilla Glass 3 from Gorilla Glass Victus.

Battery and Charging:

As the size of the smartphone is less, it’s common that there will be slightly less battery size. The Pixel 6a is carrying a 4,410mAh battery. But it didn’t have such an impact on the price. Google tasks out the wireless charging feature from the Pixel 6a and the reverse wired charging option too. So, now you might be getting my point.

Memory and Storage:

The Pixel 6 Pro comes with 12GB of RAM and the Pixel 6 has 8GB of RAM. But in Pixel 6a, there is 6GB of RAM which helps to bring down the cost a bit. For additional information, RAM for all three smartphones is LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 Storages.

Now, you got how Google bring down the cost to just $449. As a bonus, you also get the basic differences between Pixel 6a and Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.
