Apple’s BOE iPhone: OLED panel

BOE is improbably to be removed from Apple’s OLED panel supply chain in the future as its presence puts compulsion on Samsung Display and LG Display to make them more challenging and lower their prices.

The BOE factory in Sichuan is said to be still in function, and it may be presently functioning on circumvent to meet Apple’s requirements.
BOE produces OLED panels for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 at two factories in China, computing for only 10% of all iPhone displays in 2021, but the company is Apple’s.
As one of the main suppliers, they are planning a powerful development to catch up with LG Display. ‌IPhone‌ will be displayed in 2023.

Apple’s BOE iPhone: Reason for drop in production

The first reason for the drop in production was the lack of display driver integrated circuits (ICs) as IC supplier LX Semicon ranked orders for LG displays.
More importantly, the Bank of England has apparently changed the design of OLED panels by increasing the circuit width of thin film transistors. Elec says that when Apple came to know about the change, it advised the BOE to stop production.

According to The Elec, BOE has been supplying OLED display panels for 6.1-inch iPhone models since last year, but since February it has been producing “small quantities” of OLED panels for the “iPhone.” Panel production is said to have “collapsed in the last four months.”
iPhone displays have been designed, tested, and produced for Apple quality and performance standards. This includes innate and active Multi-Touch, high brightness, great color certainty, white balance, and performance for features like True Tone, Night Shift, and Haptic Touch.
