Fawad Alam becomes the first Pakistani cricketer in 28 years to finish a Test match without bowling, batting, or catching

In Rawalpindi, the first Test between Pakistan and Australia finished in a tie, with the batters having a great time. Only 14 wickets were lost throughout five days of play, which was hampered by the weather.

The game was particularly significant because it was Team Australia’s first assignment on Pakistani soil this century. As a result, numerous supporters from all parts of the country were watching the game.

Pakistan, on the other hand, batted twice during the game and only lost four wickets. After declaring at 476/4 after deciding to bat first, the hosts lost no wickets in their second innings and finished the game with 252/0. Many Pakistan batters impressed in the game, from Imam-ul-Haq to Azhar Ali. Fawad Alam, on the other hand, was the player who made history in the game.

Twitter reacted to Fawad Alam

Fawad Alam, who was supposed to bat at number five, was not allowed to do so because Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed were promoted ahead of him to score early runs.

While the 36-year-old has 15 international wickets, he was not one of the seven Pakistani bowlers who rolled their arms over throughout the match. Fawad Alam didn’t get much playing time in the field, as he didn’t catch a ball or cause a run-out.

Alam became the first Pakistani player to complete a Test match without batting, bowling, or catching in the last 28 years. As word spread about the southpaw’s extraordinary performance, social media was awash with jokes. While some fans felt bad for Alam since he didn’t have a chance, others mocked him by labelling his role a “dream job.”

About the Game

In the game, Pakistan would be the more pleased of the two sides when the host team’s four centuries were destroyed. Aside from that, left-arm spinner Nauman Ali claimed six wickets. Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, appeared pleased after the game, praising his teammates.

The 27-year-old said: “So many positives. Even I would want to congratulate my bowlers as this was a tough wicket. The way Nauman bowled was a massive positive for us. A few of our main bowlers were not available for this game as well but they should be available for the next game.”
