AMD Ryzen 9 3950X launch delayed, 3rd gen Threadripper CPUs to launch in November

Recently Anandtech has reported a confirmation from AMD that the launch of Ryzen 9 3950X has been delayed which was supposed to be launched this September.

The huge demand for 3rd gen Ryzen processors is the reason why AMD needs some more time. As we all know how popular the Ryzen 9 series has become and surprisingly people are loving it to buy it over Intel ones.

The 16 core beast is another heartthrob for enthusiasts who are eagerly waiting for it. To all those consumers, you have to wait for another 2 months because AMD is pulling up its socks to make enough of them before the launch.

AMD launches new 7nm Ryzen 3000 CPUs based on Zen 2 architecture

The Ryzen 9 3950X features 16 cores and 32 threads with a huge 64 MB L3 cache operating at a TDP of 105W. The CPU has a base clock frequency of 3.5GHz and a boost clock of 4.7GHz. This is the best ever commercial desktop CPU built by the Silicon giant ever.

Speaking of good things, AMD did clearly state that it will launch it’s 3rd gen Threadripper CPUs together in November. This is great news especially for those who are looking for high performing desktop CPUs.

The Red team also state that the 3rd gen Threadripper based on 7nm process will start with 24 cores. From the leaked benchmarks we also expect AMD to go up to 32 cores as well, but that is a matter of time.

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X launch delayed, 3rd gen Threadripper CPUs to launch in November

We are focusing on meeting the strong demand for our 3rd generation AMD Ryzen processors in the market and now plan to launch both the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X and initial members of the 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper processor family in volume this November. We are confident that when enthusiasts get their hands on the world’s first 16-core mainstream desktop processor and our next-generation of high-end desktop processors, the wait will be well worth it.

via AMD’s official statement

The delay here has nothing to do with the recent reports that TSMC is requiring 6 months for new 7nm orders. It is because the silicon for these processors would have been ordered months ago.

What really might bother AMD is that the massive amount of demand that these flagship CPUs are getting. The 3rd gen Ryzen CPUs faced a huge crisis which led sellers increasing the price of the CPUs.

This might be one of the biggest concern why AMD is producing in massive amounts to need the ever longing demands. With a solid confirmation, we can wait for 2 months to see what new AMD has to provide us with the new Threadripper CPUs, including the 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X.
