The Xiaomi 16 has been generating a lot of buzz recently, even though its official launch is still some time away. Leaks and rumors have begun to emerge with some early looks at what to expect from the new phone. A previous leak suggested that it would have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite processor.

Now, a new leak has just confirmed the same and also offered more information on the battery and camera, as well. Latest information suggests the Xiaomi 16 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC, which Qualcomm is said to launch at its Snapdragon Summit in September. The same chip may also be the SoC at the helm of the Xiaomi 16 Pro, and rumors also speculate that the Xiaomi 16s Pro and 16 Ultra might support an internally developed XRING O1 chip.

On the camera front, the Xiaomi 16 is rumored to sport a triple 50MP camera setup, including a large 1/1.3-inch primary sensor, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto lens with macro functionality. The new leak suggests the phone might pack a battery exceeding 6,500mAh in capacity. Previous leaks even mentioned a 6,800mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. The display is expected to be a 6.3-inch flat OLED panel with very slim bezels on all sides.

Software-wise, the Xiaomi 16 is rumored to run Android 16 out of the box, customized with Xiaomi’s upcoming HyperOS 3.0. Early renders have shown a dual-tone back design with a darker section that could house the wireless charging coil. The Xiaomi 16 is likely to launch alongside the Xiaomi 16 Pro later this year, though reports suggest the Pro model might be exclusive to China.
