One of Shami’s strengths, which has been on display in the two games in particular, is the seam position.

At the end of Indian batting MS Dhoni batted superbly as India reached 268.

Dhoni hit two sixes and a four in the last over. His role as a finisher in the team remains permanent.

Winning the toss India opted to bat first as it looked to be a good wicket to bat on. But the pitch was not good enough,the bounce was uneven.

India finished with a first innings total of 268-7, riding on half centuries from Virat Kohli and M. S. Dhoni. 

Skipper Kohli reached his fourth World Cup half century in a row, in their ICC World Cup match in Old Trafford cricket ground on Thursday.

Virat Kohli also completed his 20,000 international runs in this match. Kohli is the fastest to reach the milestone interms on innings played. He took only 417 innings to achieve it. Leaving behind masters of the game. He is the 12th batsman to reach the height.

  • 464 – Ricky Ponting
  • 483 – Ab de Villiars
  • 491 – Jacques Kallis

It was a must-win game for West Indies, who have left out Evin Lewis and Ashley Nurse and replaced them with Sunil Ambris and Fabian Allen.

All their efforts went in vain as they lost by 125 runs. This is also the 3rd biggest loss for West Indies in terms of runs in World Cups.
