YouTube is testing a new feature: AI live chat summaries and QR sharing for Channels

YouTube stated that it is testing two new features—AI-generated live chat summaries and channel QR codes—with select testers. The platform for sharing videos aims to facilitate the process for artists to share their channels with others by means of QR codes.

The experiment’s creators can create QR codes by navigating to the ‘You’ tab and selecting Share your channel > QR code from the bottom menu. The QR codes can be scanned both online and offline. In contrast, viewers may access a creator’s QR code by selecting Share > QR Code from the three-dot menu on their channel page.

YouTube’s AI-generated live chat summaries are limited to English-language live streams and channels with “extremely lively live chat discussions.” Channels that meet the requirements will get a unique banner at the top of the live chat that allows them to sum up the comments section.

Google Lens is also being added to the YouTube search box. There is a possibility that some Android users may see a Lens button in the search bar, which enables them to look for material on the second-most popular website globally.

YouTube is testing the idea of enabling producers to design their own visual effects for YouTube Shorts. Similar to TikTok videos, shorts are also called videos. This new feature allows producers to customize their own filters and effects to add interest and fun to their Shorts.

According to YouTube, this feature is supported only in English at this time. With regular message pop-ups, the purpose of this feature is to provide users with an overview of the activity in a live chat. “They won’t use text held for review or that contains blocked words or was sent by blocked users,” according to the AI-generated live chat summaries, which are produced solely from published chats.

Users can also skip videos to the point where most users would normally leap using one of YouTube’s AI-powered features. According to recent reports, YouTube is developing server-side ad injection and preparing a revamped user interface for its video player to make it more difficult to prevent advertisements.
