1. Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart — May 7, Theatres
Cast: Siddharth Gupta, Sanskruti Jayana, Sushmitha Bhat | Director: Hardik Gajjar
This ambitious mythological trilogy opener reimagines the early life of Lord Krishna, focusing on the deeply emotional chapter of leaving Vrindavan. If you love mythology told with cinematic grandeur and emotional depth, this is the one to catch on the big screen first. 2. Main Actor Nahin Hoon — May 8, Theatres
Cast: Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Chitrangada Satarupa | Director: Aditya Kripalani
A quietly intriguing concept — a frustrated actor in India stumbles into an unexpected mentorship relationship with a retired banker in Frankfurt via an online audition. With Nawazuddin Siddiqui at the helm, you know the performance will be worth showing up for. This cross-continental drama explores the unlikely bond that forms between two strangers connected only by a screen.
3. Daadi Ki Shaadi — May 8, Theatres
Cast: Neetu Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Sadia Khateeb | Director: Ashish R Mohan
This is the feel-good family entertainer of the week. When a grandmother announces unexpected wedding plans, the whole family has feelings about it — and that’s where the fun begins. Neetu Kapoor headlining a light-hearted comedy alongside Kapil Sharma is a combination designed to pack out theatres on weekends. The ideal outing with parents and grandparents.
4. Aakhri Sawal — May 8, Theatres
Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty | Director: Abhijeet Mohan Warang
Of all five releases this week, Aakhri Sawal may be the heaviest emotionally. Set against the backdrop of December 6, 1992, the film is rooted in real events and asks the kind of hard questions that don’t have comfortable answers. Sanjay Dutt leads this intense drama with Amit Sadh as his co-lead, and the premise alone makes it a compelling watch for audiences who appreciate serious, issue-driven cinema.
5. Lukkhe — May 8, Prime Video
Cast: King, Raashii Khanna, Palak Tiwari, Nakul Roshan Sahdev, and more | Director: Himank Gaur
The OTT highlight of the week. Lukkhe is a slice-of-life musical drama set in Punjab, following young people navigating ambition, identity, and belonging. What makes it especially noteworthy is that it marks the acting debut of rapper-musician King — one of India’s most-streamed artists right now — stepping in front of the camera for the first time. If you’re a music fan or enjoy coming-of-age stories steeped in Punjabi culture, this is your weekend watch. For more Hindi OTT and theatrical releases, follow TechnoSports.
