Xiaomi is gearing up for a big launch event on May 22, where it plans to introduce several new products, including its own mobile processor, the Xring 01. In addition to this, the company will also announce the Xiaomi 15s Pro smartphone, Pad 7 Ultra tablet, and its first electric SUV, the YU7. The event is particularly outstanding, being on the 15th Anniversary of Xiaomi. To celebrate, the company is introducing a slew of products alongside: the Xring 01 SoC (its in-house chip), the 15s Pro (follow-up to the Xiaomi 15 Pro), the Pad 7 Ultra (adding to the Pad 7 Android tablet series), and the YU7 electric SUV.

The centerpiece of the event is expected to be the Xring 01 chip, signaling Xiaomi’s return to the mobile chipset market. The chip will likely power the Xiaomi 15s Pro. Early tests show the Xring 01 sports a 10-core CPU and Immortalis-G925 GPU. Benchmark results indicate it scores 3,119 in single-core and 9,673 in multi-core Geekbench tests, comparable to top-tier processors like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400.

Xiaomi’s chip ambitions are part of a long-term strategy, with a planned investment of around CNY 50 billion (about $6.9 billion). To date, the company has spent over CNY 13.5 billion (nearly $1.9 billion) on chip research and development.

The Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra is expected to feature a premium 14-inch 3.2K LTPO display, advanced multi-window support, and a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, along with 120W fast charging. Finally, the YU7 SUV will be Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle, featuring Saturn ring-style tail-lights, dual motors with up to 390 horsepower, and dimensions of 4999mm by 1996mm by 1600mm.
