Xiaomi has announced that it is partnering up with Leica to develop its next-generation of flagship smartphones. They have been working on a smartphone for a while now, the company confirmed this “long-term strategic cooperation” with Leica and it also revealed that they had been jointly working on a flagship device that will release in July this year.

Xiaomi flagship details:

This is the fourth time that Leica has collaborated with a prominent smartphone maker for improving mobile imaging, before this they collaborated with Sharp, Huawei, and Panasonic. Xiaomi has not explicitly mentioned anything with respect to the upcoming flagship.

Lei Jun, CEO of the company has shared some details on this partnership. He states that just a few years ago, smartphone photography in low light was just “smears of darkness” but now there is improved performance in terms of overall night performance. He has also added that this partnership aims to take the camera performance to newer heights. Leica has over a century of experience developing optics, imaging, and image processing.

The upcoming flagship phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chip in all likelihood, there are no other details apart from this. The Chinese company is following in the footsteps of other similar brands that offer a unique feature on its flagship device to make it stand out. Leica will enable the next flagship of the company to have the best camera experience possible.

This trend began in 2016 with Huawei when it partnered with Leica for the camera features on its flagship device, OnePlus and Oppo have also collaborated with Hasselblad while Vivo inked a deal with Zeiss.

We expect the smartphone to be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra which is packed with exceptional features compared to other flagship devices.
