• Failure to comply with this advisory could result in severe consequences, as emphasized by the ministry.

Exemption for Fantasy Platforms

• Other fantasy platforms are also allowed to advertise their brands and products during the tournament.

Concerns Over ‘Black Money’

• The government’s concerns extend to the alleged use of “black money” for betting advertisements.
• Similar advisories have been issued in the past, notably during IPL 2023, stressing the illegality of betting and gambling activities.

Violation of Consumer Protection Act

• Betting and gambling are deemed illegal activities, and promoting or advertising them goes against the Consumer Protection Act.
• The government is committed to preventing such practices and protecting consumers’ interests.

World Cup 2023 Details

• The World Cup 2023 is scheduled to commence on October 5, promising thrilling cricketing action.
• Star Sports will broadcast the entire tournament, while both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Disney Star will be cautious not to defy the government’s advisory.
