Not every franchise film gets a fairy-tale ending at the box office. Welcome To The Jungle, starring Akshay Kumar, looked destined for “HIT” status after a strong opening — but its third week tells a very different story.

The Numbers Behind the Slowdown

The film added just Rs. 1.50 crore on its third Saturday, a 75% jump from Friday, but that’s still a massive 80% drop compared to the previous Saturday. Its running total now stands at Rs. 123.65 crore nett in India, with the third week expected to close around Rs. 6.5-7 crore nett — a full 75% down from Week Two.

The film held up well for the first few days before losing steam from Wednesday onward, a slide made worse by new releases crowding it out.

Welcome To The Jungle: Collection Snapshot

Period	Nett Collection
Week One	Rs. 92.25 crore
Week Two	Rs. 29.00 crore
3rd Friday	Rs. 0.85 crore
3rd Saturday	Rs. 1.50 crore (est.)
Running Total	Rs. 123.65 crore
Expected Lifetime	~Rs. 135 crore nett

Success, Yes — But Not a HIT

Here’s the twist: the film is still profitable thanks to a modest budget for a franchise this well-known. But in terms of pure box office muscle, it underwhelms. It’s tracking behind Bhooth Bangla’s trend line and even trails Housefull 5 — a tough comparison for a brand that once delivered one of the biggest grossers of its era. The first Welcome remains a benchmark few sequels have matched, and this one, despite a strong start, won’t quite get there.

For fans following the box office closely, this is a classic case of a film winning on cost efficiency while falling short on brand-level expectations.
