Some franchises carry so much legacy that even a genuinely successful run can feel like it’s underdelivering. That’s the story unfolding with Akshay Kumar’s Welcome To The Jungle, a film closing out its theatrical journey on steady footing — just not the roaring one fans of the “Welcome” name were hoping for.

The Latest Numbers

Directed by Ahmed Khan, Welcome To The Jungle collected Rs. 75 lakh on its third Tuesday, marking a 50% jump from the day before. That pushes its running total to Rs. 126.85 crore nett in India, with the film expected to close this week around Rs. 128 crore. Based on current trends, its full theatrical run is projected to land near Rs. 135 crore nett.

That figure puts it behind both Akshay Kumar‘s Bhooth Bangla and Housefull 5 in terms of lifetime earnings, and while it will technically miss the “Clean Hit” tag, it’s still on track to be classified a success overall.

Why the Numbers Are a Mixed Bag

Here’s the nuance: the film’s production costs were kept notably reasonable for a big-brand release, which is a big part of why it’s landing in success territory despite modest collections. Had the budget matched something like Housefull 5’s, this outcome would have looked far less comfortable.

But there’s no ignoring the brand history at play. The original Welcome was one of the biggest grossers of its era, and even the sequel — without Akshay Kumar in the lead — managed a strong opening and solid final numbers. Against that backdrop, this installment’s Rs. 135 crore finish reads as underwhelming rather than triumphant.
