March 31 is World Backup Day — a yearly reminder that most people are one hard drive failure, one stolen laptop, or one ransomware attack away from losing everything they’ve stored digitally. WD is marking the occasion with discounts of up to 65% off on its My Passport and WD Elements portable drives on Amazon and Flipkart — a sale that ran from March 26 to March 31, 2026.

My Passport vs WD Elements — Which One to Pick
Both drives are portable, USB 3.0 connected, and go up to 6TB — but they serve slightly different users. The WD My Passport is the more feature-rich option: it includes built-in backup software with scheduling support and ransomware protection, making it the better choice for anyone who wants an automatic, set-it-and-forget-it backup routine for personal photos, videos, and work files.
The WD Elements Portable is plug-and-play simplicity at its best — no software overhead, USB 3.2 Gen 1 for fast data transfers, and a no-frills design built for people who just want expandable storage they can carry anywhere. If you’re buying a second drive to manually dump files onto, Elements is the cleaner choice. If you want automated protection, My Passport is the one.
World Backup Day exists because data loss is far more common than people expect — and external drives remain the most accessible, cost-effective first line of defence most households and small businesses can deploy. At 65% off, the barrier to starting a backup habit is about as low as it gets. For more storage deals and tech coverage, visit TechnoSports.
