The multi-title LAN tournament brought together student competitors across VALORANT, BGMI, EA Sports FC 26, and Tekken 8, with a total prize pool of ₹5,00,000 — one of the larger grassroots campus esports events India has seen.

Why LAN Tournaments Matter for Campus Esports
Most student esports remains confined to online qualifiers and Discord-based competition — which is accessible, but strips away everything that makes competitive gaming genuinely valuable as an experience. Playing on LAN, in front of a live audience, with professional broadcast production and a structured bracket, is a fundamentally different environment. It tests composure, communication, and in-game decision-making under conditions that online play simply doesn’t replicate.
That gap between casual online competition and organised professional-level play is exactly what Jasper Shabin, Founder of production partner Insurgence Gaming Company, identified as one of the biggest structural problems in India’s grassroots esports ecosystem. The Vortex Campus Showdown is a direct attempt to close it — giving students the full competitive experience, not just the result.
The strong turnout during qualifiers, with hundreds of participants across all four titles and players travelling long distances to participate, suggests demand for this kind of event is real and underserved. JP Universities’ formal partnership also signals institutional backing for esports as a legitimate extracurricular pathway, which is still relatively rare in India’s academic ecosystem.
Operational and broadcast production for the entire event was handled by Insurgence Gaming Company, ensuring professional-grade execution throughout the three-day tournament.
