One blurry-looking object in a promo photo, and MCU fans are already spiralling. In a new image from Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series, Vision, in his human form, grips what appears to be a bladed weapon and seems to draw power from it. It looks a lot like the glaive that once pierced him.

VisionQuest: The Clue in the Photo

In Infinity War, Corvus Glaive sneaked up on Vision and stabbed him through the chest, using the weapon to reach the Mind Stone. Vision later used the same glaive to kill Corvus during the battle of Wakanda, then died moments later at Thanos’ hands. Seeing that weapon resurface in the present is a big surprise, and it hints that VisionQuest has something specific planned for it.

Theory 1: A Piece of the Old Vision

The glaive touched the Mind Stone, so it may have bonded with the gem and kept a fragment of the original Vision alive. If so, the weapon could help him connect with his past self and answer his identity crisis. The series follows him trying to find his place in the world, and a link to his former self fits that story.

Theory 2: Corvus Is Back

In the comics, Corvus is nearly immortal as long as his glaive stays in one piece, and he can regenerate from atoms. That opens the door for Corvus to return and seek revenge, with Vision possibly borrowing his weapon to upgrade himself.

Why It Matters

VisionQuest is already bringing back villains from the past, so one more face from Thanos’ forces wouldn’t be shocking. Corvus may not find the same easy match, though. The Vision of today is White Vision, rebuilt by SWORD, who is more calculated than the original and more prone to rage. His son Tommy Maximoff also joins the story, and threats like the bounty hunter Paladin and Ultron are expected. All of this remains speculation until the series airs.
