Someone wants Vision badly enough to hire a bounty hunter. In VisionQuest, Paladin (Todd Stashwick) answers to an unnamed “client,” and the clues so far point in several directions. Spoiler warning: this covers the first two episodes.

How We Got Here?

Vision is hiding in Edinburgh, working at a bar. Armed goons open fire, killing his innocent boss, and Vision takes them all out. Paladin then surveys the mess and has an unpleasant chat with his client. By Episode 2, the client’s patience is thinning, so an identity reveal looks close. According to The Direct, here are the seven characters with a real motive.

The Seven Suspects

1. The Power Broker (Sharon Carter): she made Madripoor her base, and the show visits Madripoor. She also has history with Tony Stark, Vision’s maker, and access to weapons and information after making peace with the US government.

2. Xu Xialing: Paladin got his adamantium from the Ten Rings, which Xialing now leads. She could be bidding for a synthezoid powerhouse.

3. Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar: the Ten Rings man from Iron Man returns in the show. Betrayed by Obadiah Stane and left for dead, he could be on a revenge mission against Stark’s legacy.

4. Jocasta: Ultron’s comic-book wife has a still-undisclosed role. She may be pulling Paladin’s strings to set up a showdown.

5. Ultron: Vision couldn’t bring himself to kill his father, so a piece of Ultron lives in his mindscape. He seems friendly so far, but a life as “the devil on Vision’s shoulder” may not suit him.

6. Justin Hammer: humiliated by Iron Man and jailed after Iron Man 2, he could be rebuilding his fortune and eyeing Tony’s greatest creation.

7. Tyler Hayward: the SWORD operative who ordered Vision’s rebuild in WandaVision. He lost everything once White Vision realised he was a pawn.

The Prime Suspect?

The Direct calls Hayward the number-one suspect on Vision’s list. SWORD invested heavily in the synthezoid, and the FBI grabbed Hayward in WandaVision’s finale. Villains do escape jail in the MCU, though, so keep an eye on the Ten Rings trail too. The adamantium is the most concrete clue so far.
