Think Damage Control is out of the picture after Spider-Man: Brand New Day? Think again. The latest trailer for Disney+’s VisionQuest shows the agency is still active, and its drones have been given a makeover.

What’s Changed With the Drones?

Damage Control was created by Tony Stark and the federal government after the Chitauri invasion. It started out collecting alien materials but has drifted far from that role. Brand New Day exposed its inhuman experiments on prisoners like Sara and Jean Grey.

The agency has used the EDITH drones, confiscated from Stark Industries after Mysterio abused them, since Ms. Marvel. In the VisionQuest trailer, three of them fly over a road, now in black with a leaner design. A sonic blaster on one drone suggests they may have been retrofitted to stun rather than kill, though it’s also possible their weapons are simply hidden for now.

Is Damage Control Building Robots?

A fan theory points to SWORD. After Tyler Hayward redirected SWORD’s resources into robotics, nanotechnology, and AI, the agency was never mentioned again. Some think it was folded into Nick Fury’s SABER, but it’s also possible those projects ended up with Damage Control. That would explain its growing arsenal of tech, holding cells, and weapons, along with its renewed pursuit of Vision.

The Sentinel Theory

This is where it gets bigger. A longstanding theory says the DODC will eventually create the Sentinels. Brand New Day strengthened it, since Peter Parker unintentionally gave the agency the means to make mutant inhibitor collars.

Hunting Vision could be about copying his advanced AI and robotics. If that leads to something like Master Mold, we could get another Ultron-style threat. There’s also the prison angle. Wonder Man revealed that one of the agency’s goals was to fill its half-empty supermax prison, and a growing population of mutants would make that easy.

Remember, this is theory, not confirmed story. Whether Damage Control survived its exposure, or who runs it now, is still unknown.
