Quick take: OPPO has reportedly raised Reno 16 prices in India again, by up to ₹7,000. The 8GB + 256GB model now sits at ₹72,999 and the 12GB + 256GB at ₹79,999. For a phone with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, that is flagship money.
The Price Tag Keeps Climbing
Few phones have felt the memory-chip squeeze as sharply as the OPPO Reno 16. According to a post by tech creator Sanju Choudhary, the latest revision pushes the 8GB model from ₹66,999 to ₹72,999 and the 12GB model from ₹72,999 to ₹79,999. His reaction sums up the mood: paying around ₹80,000 for a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and UFS 3.1 storage.
Reno 16 Price Journey in India
| Variant | Launch Price | After First Hike | Latest (per X post) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8GB + 256GB | ₹61,999 | ₹66,999 | ₹72,999 |
| 12GB + 256GB | ₹67,999 | ₹72,999 | ₹79,999 |
Launch and first-hike prices are from MyMobileIndia and OPPO India. The latest figures come from this X post, and I could not find an independent confirmation yet, so check OPPO’s store before buying.
Why Are Phones Getting Pricier?
The common thread is memory. Reports tie recent OPPO increases to the global RAM crisis, with rising DRAM costs, along with other components and logistics. The same pressure has hit the Reno 16c, A6s and A6x, which saw earlier hikes of ₹1,000 to ₹5,000.
Is the Reno 16 Still Worth It?
| The Case For | The Case Against |
|---|---|
| Premium design and camera focus | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is mid-range silicon |
| Official discounts and bank offers may soften the price | At ₹79,999, it competes with true flagships |
If you were close to buying, the pattern suggests waiting won’t help. Prices have gone one way for months. If you’re not tied to the brand, look at OPPO‘s rivals before paying this much for a mid-range chip.
Budget buyers are feeling this too. See how we judged value in our Redmi 17 5G review, and browse more smartphone news on TechnoSports.
