Vikram Mishra Triumphs in Indian Poker Masters: A Tale of Skill and Dedication

India, 24 August 2023: The winner of the National Poker Series India 2023 podium, Vikram Mishra hailing from Darbhanga, Bihar, has emerged as the champion of PokerBaazi’s prestigious Indian Poker Masters tournament, securing a substantial prize pool of INR 2,62,000. For Vikram, this victory is a testament to his dedication and strategic decision-making during crucial moments, which he believes are the cornerstones of success in the world of professional poker.

In his own words, Vikram Mishra shared his insights, stating, “Results are an outcome of your hard work and dedication. Taking the right decisions at critical junctures, consistent effort, and always bringing your A-game to the table are the factors that have contributed to my success in professional poker.” He believes that beyond the surface, poker is a game of mathematics, strategy, and maintaining a positive mindset. While often misunderstood and plagued by myths and social stigmas, poker is fundamentally a strategy-driven game that demands continuous learning and adaptation.

Reflecting on his victory and looking towards the future, Vikram added, “Clinching a title in the Indian Poker Masters tournament has been a truly exhilarating experience. I hope that my journey resonates with aspiring poker players, inspiring them to embark on their own poker journeys.”

A fervent advocate of consistency and respect for the game, Vikram Mishra started his journey towards professional poker in 2015, transitioning from his role as an engineer. What began as casual matches among friends gradually transformed into a deep-seated passion for the game.

Navkiran Singh, the CEO and Co-Founder of Baazi Games, extended his congratulations to Vikram for his remarkable achievement. He remarked, “Vikram’s journey exemplifies how poker has transcended its urban boundaries and is now gaining respect and recognition in various regions. His victory stands as a testament to the potential that determined individuals hold to attain remarkable feats and cultivate successful careers in the realm of poker. I also commend Vikram for his efforts in dispelling the social stigmas associated with poker, and his commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of the sport.”

Vikram Mishra also offers valuable advice for aspiring poker players, stressing the importance of complete engagement with the game and a comprehensive study of its intricacies, including associated risks. He advocates beginning with the basics, implementing sound bankroll management, and consistently evaluating performance to enhance gameplay over time.

Beyond his personal journey, Vikram expresses concern about the impact of the 28% Goods and Services Tax (GST) on professional poker players. He believes that this taxation could adversely affect many players, potentially deterring them from pursuing poker full-time.
