Vibe Box Office: Kunal Kemmu’s Spy Comedy Struggles to Rs 10.45 Crore in Opening Week

Kunal Kemmu’s much-anticipated spy comedy “Vibe” has wrapped its first week at the Indian box office with a disappointing Rs 10.45 crore nett, confirming what industry watchers feared — this one’s a flop. Despite a starry cast and a fun premise, weak word-of-mouth has kept audiences away.

Vibe Week One: A Steady Decline

The film opened at Rs 1.75 crore and peaked mid-week before collections nosedived, closing Day 7 at just Rs 60 lakh.

Why Vibe Isn’t Working?

Trade experts point to average word-of-mouth as the primary culprit — a familiar box office killer for films that don’t build weekend momentum. With this trajectory, Vibe is now expected to close its entire theatrical run somewhere between Rs 15–20 crore nett, a noticeably weaker outing than Kemmu’s earlier hit, Madgaon Express.

What’s Vibe About?

Directed and co-produced by lead actor Kunal Kemmu, the spy comedy follows best friends Hardik and Bugs, who stumble into a covert operation after a disastrous planetarium date, dragging them from Mumbai to Bangkok on a chaotic, mission-gone-wrong adventure. The film also stars Preity Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Vanshika Dhir, and Yashpal Sharma in key roles.
