Verizon makes its fast 5G Ultra-Wideband available for prepaid customers

Verizon started providing its 5G services several months ago, however, that was a Sub-6GHz service. Only the postpaid customers had the access to the fast Ultra-Wideband 5G network through some specific unlimited plans. Now, the service provider opens it for the prepaid customers too for the first time. There is a single unlimited plan worth $75, $10 more than the standard unlimited plan, comes with the mmWave 5G service.

Needless to say, the 5G UW network provides a dream internet speed, though the signal strength is limited to a very short range. In case you are a Verizon customer and wants to experience the 5G UW service, need to check two things –

  1. Check if you are in one of the 64 cities where the service is available. Here is the coverage map.
  2. Make sure your 5G handset has the support of 5G UW. Verizon generally indicates the support in its smartphones by adding UW with the name. Apart from that, budget phones don’t have that support in maximum cases. You may need to get a flagship.

If you upgrade to the new plan and your phone doesn’t have the 5G UW support, the plan will still provide the company’s Sub-6GHz Nationwide 5G network.
