Varane tells Real Madrid he wants to leave for Man United

Raphael Varane and his agents have communicated the player’s desire to make the switch to England amidst rumours of Manchester United being interested in him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Varane is currently remaining respectful to Real Madrid since the two clubs have not yet reached an agreement regarding the transfer. The player has been offered a five-year deal by United, and he is willing to accept their terms to make the move.

Real Madrid are asking for a price of around €40 million for their defender, despite Varane having only a year left on his current deal. He was offered a contract extension numerous times during the latter half of the season but rejected Madrid’s advances time and time again. He wants to ‘try something new’, and that is a spell in the Premier League for Manchester United.

A long-awaited move for the centre-back now looks likely this summer, since the alternative for Madrid will be to let him go for free next summer. They already had to let go of Sergio Ramos for free this year, and it is unlikely that they will make the same mistake again.

Carlo Ancelotti will be without two of the best centre-backs in the world in the new season, with Sergio Ramos already announced as a PSG player. He will have to choose between Eder Militao, Nacho, David Alaba and returning Madrid loanee Jesus Vallejo as the four first-team central defenders. The Italian could also turn to the academy products since Florentino Perez has ruled out any more signings this summer.
