Malayalam cinema just got a new sensation. Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros. — directed by Savin Sa and featuring an entirely fresh cast led by Hashir — has taken Kerala by storm, closing its extended first weekend with a staggering Rs. 26.70 crore gross. No big stars, no established heroes — just pure storytelling that clicked with the audience.
For anyone wondering if Malayalam cinema still has room for newcomers to shine, Vaazha 2 just answered that with thunderous numbers at the ticket counter.
Vaazha 2 Day-Wise Box Office Collection (Kerala)
| Day | Collection |
|---|---|
| Day 1 (Thursday) | Rs. 5.20 crore |
| Day 2 (Friday) | Rs. 5.75 crore |
| Day 3 (Saturday) | Rs. 7.25 crore |
| Day 4 (Sunday) | Rs. 8.50 crore (est.) |
| Extended Weekend Total | Rs. 26.70 crore |
Sunday’s Rs. 8.50 crore haul was not just the film’s biggest single day — it also set a non-Mohanlal single-day record in Kerala, a feat that very few Malayalam films have ever achieved. The film’s worldwide gross crossed Rs. 65 crore by end of the first extended weekend.
What Makes This Success So Special?
The Malayalam film industry, known for its content-driven cinema, has consistently rewarded good storytelling over star power. Vaazha 2 is a perfect example. The sequel to the successful Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Boys was helmed by writer-producer Vipin Das, who has once again bet big on fresh faces — and won.
The film features music by the band Malayali Monkeys alongside multiple independent artists, giving it a youthful, energetic soundtrack that clearly resonated with younger audiences.
Based on current momentum, the film is expected to close its opening week between Rs. 35–40 crore and comfortably cross Rs. 50 crore gross in its second weekend in Kerala alone.
What to Expect Next?
With this kind of trajectory, Vaazha 2 is well on its way to becoming one of the biggest Malayalam blockbusters of 2026. Keep an eye on the second-week numbers — they will tell the real story of its staying power.
