Netflix is doubling down on South African storytelling, and its newest offering, Umthetho, looks set to be another must-watch. Fresh off the success of The Polygamist, the streamer just dropped the first teaser and images for this intense crime drama.
What Is Umthetho About?
Umthetho is a South African reimagining of the hit Brazilian series Brotherhood, transplanting the same gripping premise into South Africa’s brutal prison system. The story follows Mbali, a talented public prosecutor played by Nqobile Nunu Khumalo, whose life is upended when she discovers her brother Moses, played by Tony Kgoroge, is alive and running a ruthless prison syndicate. To make matters worse, their younger brother Sphelele finds himself caught in the crossfire, forcing Mbali to work alongside the brother she thought was gone — torn between justice and blood. whats-on-netflix
