Finally, MediaTek has officially launched its Dimensity 1200 5G chipset earlier today. It seems like Redmi will be the first company to launch a smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset, probably the Redmi K40 series.

However, another big news has come out saying that Ulefone is expected to launch its Armor 12 rugged phone later this year (expected to be launched in June) and the company has already confirmed that it will be powered by the Dimensity 1200 chipset. To be precise, it will be a rugged phone and said to be the world’s first rugged phone powered by the Dimensity 1200 SoC.

Ulefone has released a teaser poster regarding this device by which we can confirm the retail name of the smartphone, Ulefone Armor 12. The SoC of this phone is confirmed to be paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. However, there are expected to be other RAM/storage variants as well. That’s all we’ve known yet regarding this upcoming rugged phone. Now, let’s discuss its processor, the newly launched MediaTek Dimensity 1200.

The Dimensity 1200 is the company’s first 6nm chipset (Dimensity 1100 is another one). This chipset is the first to use Cortex-A78 core. The Dimensity 1200 has one A78 core which clockes up to 3.0GHz, three A78 cores with 2.6GHz speed, and four A55 cores operating at 2.0GHz which are power-efficient in nature. The dynamic range of Dimensity 1200 has also widened by 40% and most of the credit for this feature goes to the staggered HDR support for 4K videos.
