Tu Yaa Main Box Office: Adarsh Gourav & Shanaya Kapoor’s Crocodile Thriller Bites Off Less Than ₹6 Crore

Bejoy Nambiar’s creature thriller Tu Yaa Main had the right ingredients — a rising star in Adarsh Gourav, a buzzy Bollywood debut for Shanaya Kapoor, and a crocodile horror premise that’s genuinely rare in Hindi cinema. But ten days in, the film has managed just ₹5.25 crore nett — and is now heading for a quiet exit under the ₹10 crore mark.

The 2nd weekend brought in ₹1 crore, which sounds okay until you realise that’s barely a fraction of what even a modest hit needs to sustain itself. The writing on the wall is clear.

Tu Yaa Main Day-by-Day Box Office Breakdown

What Went Wrong?

The film actually performed better than its co-release O Romeo (starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri), which is a small moral victory — but not a financial one. The bigger issue is structural, and it’s one the industry keeps bumping into: audiences increasingly treat mid-budget, non-star-driven films as OTT content, choosing to wait at home rather than head to cinemas.

The 8-week OTT window that was meant to protect theatres is actually hurting niche films — audiences know the wait isn’t long, so why bother buying a ticket? Industry voices are now arguing that window needs to be extended to closer to six months for smaller productions to have a fighting chance.
