Trossard Besiktas Slap Incident Shames Turkish Referees

Trossard Besiktas endured a shocking slap to the face from Fidan Aliti during the 1-0 defeat to Alanyaspor on Monday at Bahcesehir Okullari Arena.

Match Timeline Unfolds

The forward was playing only his second Super Lig game after arriving from Arsenal. Alanyaspor struck the only goal while Besiktas had a strike ruled out following a disputed challenge involving Dusan Vlahovic. The slap occurred from behind yet referee Adnan Deniz Kayatepe issued no card at all.

VAR official Bülent Birincioglu also took no action despite clear replays.

Club Statement Delivered

Besiktas released a scathing post-match statement that labelled the officiating disgraceful. The club described the performance as a badge of shame for Turkish refereeing standards. It demanded that both Kayatepe and Birincioglu never handle its matches again. The statement came hours after the final whistle on 24 August 2026.

Trossard Besiktas Reaction Emerges

Trossard stated the decision should clearly have been changed and called for a red card. One report confirmed the contact came from behind with zero punishment issued. This episode contrasted sharply with stricter standards seen in other European leagues this season. The forward’s comments highlighted the incident’s severity without any official follow-up.

Implications For Refereeing Ahead
