Toyota to launch Hyryder SUV India as a direct competitor to Hyundai Creta

In the future months, Toyota Kirloskar Motor plans to launch a new model in India. D22 is the secret name for Toyota’s next small SUV. Toyota Hyryder is rumoured to be the name, and it will debut in June. The rollout will most likely happen before the holiday season this year.

The future SUV will be conceived and produced in collaboration between Toyota and Suzuki. It will also be the company’s first co-developed product with Suzuki. The name of the next SUV has yet to be announced by the automaker. According to reports, it will be known as the Toyota Hyryder.

It was created for certain markets, according to the manufacturer. The 1.5L normally aspirated petrol engine from the global-spec Yaris Cross Hybrid will power it. It will be powered by a 59kWh electric motor and a battery pack. The aggregate power output of the motor will be roughly 114bhp. While the petrol engine will produce 120Nm of torque, the electric motor will produce 141Nm. The hybrid powertrain of the Toyota Yaris Cross is touted to provide a fuel efficiency of over 26kmpl.

With two motors, it will be able to operate in hybrid and pure EV modes. The 1.5L petrol engine will also be available in the new SUV. It will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions. The Hyryder SUV will be built on the TNGA platform, which has been substantially localised.

Toyota’s Bidadi facility near Bengaluru will produce the rumoured Toyota Hyryder

Connected car technology, a 360-degree camera, a Head-Up Display (HUD), wireless smartphone charging, a sunroof, wireless charging, a digital instrument cluster, and more will be included in the new mid-size SUV. It’s also expected to include an ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) package.

The new Hyryder SUV will look different from Maruti Suzuki’s planned mid-size SUV, even though it is co-developed with Suzuki and both models will share platform and design features. The powertrain, on the other hand, will remain unchanged.
