Top 5 clubs that have spent the most money on signings in 2021

The transfer window is in its final month, with only a fortnight remaining to finalise deals. As a result, most of the important deals have already gone through. With that said, here are the clubs that have spent the most amount of money on reinforcements.

5. RB Leipzig – €92m – 7 Signings

Despite their reputation in Germany, RB Leipzig carry out some outstanding business deals for not a lot of money in comparison to other clubs. The squad has been reinforced this season, with Andre Silva as the star signing from Frankfurt.

4. Aston Villa – €105.6m – 5 Signings

Villa’s inclusion is a surprise considering they are not even challenging for Europe. However, the sale of Jack Grealish to Manchester City has enabled them to gather replacements for their former captain and sign players like Emi Buendia, Danny Ings, Leon Bailey and Ashley Young.

3. Chelsea – €115m – 2 Signings

The Blues are yet to officially confirm the signing of Romelu Lukaku, but the transfer is as good as done with the Belgian heading back to London. Chelsea smashed their transfer record for their former player only a season after establishing a new one with Kai Havertz. They have also signed goalkeeper Marcus Bartinelli on a free deal.

2. Manchester City – €128m – 3 Signings

Manchester City signed their most expensive player of all time in Jack Grealish, spending £100 million for the player. They have also signed Brazilian winger Kayky for €10 million and Scott Carson as the third choice keeper on a free deal. City are also being linked with the transfer of Harry Kane, but the momentum around their pursuit seems to have died down a little.

1. Manchester United – €135m – 3 Signings

United, like Chelsea, are yet to confirm the signing of Raphael Varane but the player is already in the city to finalise his transfer. The Red Devils have already confirmed the signing of Jadon Sancho, which makes him one of the most expensive English transfers in history.
