Manchester United have recently signed Casemiro from Real Madrid for a fee of €70.6 million. This move has made the Brazilian the second highest expensive player above 30 years of age.

Despite being 30 years of age, Casemiro still has around 4-5 years of top-level football left in him. United are struggling in the Premier League and conceding goals for fun so the addition of the 5 times Champions League winner can be their turning point. Not only Casemiro but there is also another addition at the top of this list. Barcelona has signed 33 years old Robert Lewandowski this season from Bayern Munich.

So the age barrier has now been broken in the football world and clubs are spending on players above 30 years of age as well. This is due to the fact that in the current situation a player can continue in top form till around 40 years of age and its prime example is Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo.
