Top 10 Manchester United players of all time

Manchester United have won the Premier League 20 times, and are one of the most successful teams in England. They also have one of the biggest fanbases in the world, with patrons all across the globe. Manchester Evening News have ranked the top 50 players to put on the shirt in history, and here are the top ten of all time: 

10. Roy Keane (1993-2005)

Roy Keane was one of the greatest leaders to play in the Premier League. He operated as a defensive midfielder and made 366 appearances for United, winning 17 trophies with them. 

9. Cristiano Ronaldo (2003-2009)

CR7 is one of the best individuals to have represented the Red Devils, winning his first Ballon d’Or award towards the end of his tenure at Old Trafford.

8. Wayne Rooney (2004-2017)

To this day, football fans consider Rooney to be one of the most underrated players to have played for United. He captained the club in the 2010s and was crucial for them in the initial post-Fergie years. 

7. Eric Cantona (1992-1997)

Cantona is remembered by fans as one of the best forwards in the late 90s. He scored 81 goals for the club in 180 appearances and retired at Manchester United after spending five years with them. 

6. Duncan Edwards (1953-58)

In the five years he spent as a Manchester United player, Edwards cemented himself as the single best Busby Babe to feature under manager Matt Busby. His all-round brilliance in midfield carries his legend on to this day.

5. Paul Scholes (1993-2011, 2012-2013)

Spending close to two decades at the Theater of Dreams, Scholars is hailed as one of the best passers of the ball the English game has ever seen. 

4. Denis Law (1962-1973)

The only Scottish player to have won the Ballon d’Or in 1964, Law is also the only man to have scored six games in an FA Cup tie, which came against Luton. 

3. Bobby Charlton (1956-1973)

Bobby Charlton survived the Munich Air Disaster at the age of 20 and helped England win the World Cup in 1966. That was also the year he was awarded the Ballon d’Or. 

2. George Best (1963-1974)

Best is regarded as one of the greatest dribblers the world has ever seen. He scored 137 goals for United in over 350 appearances and was a polarizing figure throughout his days. 

1. Ryan Giggs (1987-2014)

Spending close to 30 years as a Manchester United player, Giggs is one of the longest-serving players for Manchester United and is ranked as the best of all time by Manchester Evening News. He made 963 appearances for the club, scoring 168 goals.
