JJ Gabriel Next Club: Who Could Sign Manchester United’s “Kid Messi”?

JJ Gabriel Next Club: The race to land JJ Gabriel is officially on. After the 15-year-old sensation stunned Manchester United by formally requesting his registration be cancelled, clubs across England and Europe are scrambling to work out who could be his next destination — and the shortlist reads like a who’s who of European football.

JJ Gabriel Next Club: The Frontrunners

Chelsea are widely seen as the most aggressive suitor, with a natural connection: Gabriel actually developed his early skills at the Blues’ academy before moving to United. Reports suggest Ben Jacobs has indicated Gabriel already has “another Premier League club in mind,” fuelling speculation Chelsea could be that side.

There’s one major obstacle, though. Chelsea are currently serving a nine-month ban preventing them from registering academy players signed from Premier League or EFL clubs, a punishment linked to breaches around financial reporting and youth development regulations. That ban runs until December, complicating any immediate move.

Arsenal and Manchester City Also Circling

Arsenal, chasing depth on the left wing, are seen as another realistic option, while Manchester City — who reportedly tried to sign Gabriel a year ago — could look to reignite interest and land a symbolic victory over their fiercest rivals.

European Giants in the Mix

According to Fabrizio Romano, Gabriel’s long-term future may actually lie outside England altogether. Real Madrid and Barcelona have reportedly been long-standing admirers, pitching to Gabriel and his camp for several months. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with interest, with Gabriel’s rumoured Irish passport eligibility only widening his options across the continent.

Why Everyone Wants Him

Dubbed “Kid Messi,” Gabriel became the youngest player ever to appear for United’s U18 side, scoring twice on his debut against Leeds at just 14. Despite prolific underage form, he’s yet to make a competitive senior appearance — a stalled pathway many believe triggered his shock decision to push for an exit.

What Happens Next

United remain hopeful they can still convince Gabriel to stay, given he’s contracted until the end of the season. But with Chelsea, Arsenal, City, and Europe’s biggest clubs all reportedly interested, United face a genuine fight to keep their most talked-about academy graduate in years.
