Tokyo Paralympic Games will be Broadcast in India by Eurosport

From August 24 to September 5, 2020, the Tokyo Summer Paralympic Games will be broadcast on Eurosport’s platforms in India for the first time and will add to the wide range of sports currently available to fans on Eurosport’s platforms.

The broadcaster will air events from 22 different sporting disciplines. In the eight countries that make up the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, Eurosport India will be the only paid television partner for the Paralympics (SAARC).

The coverage would do credit to the journeys and accomplishments of India’s para-athletes, according to Vijay Rajput, the CEO of Eurosport India and Discovery’s senior vice-president for affiliate sales and product distribution in India.

The men’s and women’s archery competitions at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field will kick off Eurosport India’s coverage of the Tokyo Paralympic Games on August 27th, with a focus on local heroes. On the discovery+ app, the Eurosport broadcast will be available LIVE, letting fans follow all of the action from Tokyo.

Fans will have unprecedented access to the most inspiring local stories delivered by the best storytellers to unlock the power of sport and the Games thanks to Eurosport’s localized coverage of the Paralympics in India, which also features discovery+.

In total, India will send 54 para-athletes to Tokyo 2020, more than any other country. This includes seven para-badminton entrants, as the sport makes its debut at the Games, with five men’s entries and Parul Parmar and Palak Kohli competing in the women’s doubles.

Throughout the Games, fans will be able to cheer for every Indian hero, including World No. 3 and World No. 2 athletes. In the javelin, SumitAntil and Sandeep Chaudhary competed; in shooting, Manish Narwal (10m air pistol), Singhraj (10m air pistol), and AvaniLekhara (10m air rifle, 50m air rifle) competed; and in the high jump, MariyappanThangavelu competed. Thangavelu will also be the Indian team’s flag bearer.
