Today’s the Day: Ram Charan and Sukumar Reunite for RC17 After 8 Years

Eight years is a long time to wait for a reunion, but it ends today. Ram Charan and director Sukumar start their next film together with a pooja ceremony on November 1, 2026, and fans of Rangasthalam have been waiting for this.

RC17 : Overview

Why Fans Are Excited?

The duo last worked together on the 2018 rural drama Rangasthalam. Ram Charan played Chitti Babu, a cheerful boat skipper with partial hearing loss, who is dragged into dangerous village politics after his brother challenges a corrupt village president. The film also starred Aadhi Pinisetty, Jagapathi Babu and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

This time the mood is reportedly bigger and more urban. Reports say Sukumar spent more than two years developing and fine-tuning the script, and pre-production is already underway. The makers are describing it as a massive, big-budget project.

RC17 Open Questions

Not everything is confirmed, and that’s part of the fun. Here’s what we know and what we don’t:

• Heroine: Names like Sara Arjun and Bhagyashrii Borse were rumored, but recent reports suggest the makers may cast a Telugu actress.
• Music: Devi Sri Prasad was initially announced as composer, but his name is missing from the latest announcement. That has sparked speculation that Anirudh Ravichander might step in. Nothing is official.
• Genre and plot: The action-adventure label is still a report, not a confirmation.

What Came Before?

Ram Charan was last seen in Peddi, a sports action drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana. It starred Janhvi Kapoor, with Divyendu and Shiva Rajkumar in key roles, and followed a man’s journey to fame as he works to give his village the recognition it deserves.
