Colleen Hoover’s darkest thriller is finally making its way to the big screen — and the first look images plus the official teaser for Verity are everything fans could have hoped for. With an A-list cast bringing the book’s most haunting characters to life, this one is already shaping up to be the psychological thriller of 2026.
The Verity: Meet the Cast Behind the Mystery
The teaser and first-look images reveal the three central characters in all their layered, morally complex glory:
- Anne Hathaway steps into the shoes of Verity Crawford — the bestselling author at the heart of the story, glamorous and dangerous in equal measure
- Dakota Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer hired to complete Verity’s book series, who stumbles upon a hidden manuscript that turns her world upside down
- Josh Hartnett portrays Jeremy Crawford, Verity’s husband, with whom Lowen develops a complicated — and deeply forbidden — relationship
The first-look photos show Hathaway’s Verity dazzling at a party alongside Jeremy, while Johnson’s Lowen is seen discovering the manuscript that sets the entire thriller in motion.
What’s the Story About?
Verity is based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling psychological thriller novel. Lowen Ashleigh enters the Crawford home to finish Verity’s unfinished book series, only to uncover a deeply disturbing autobiographical manuscript — one that reveals horrifying truths about the deaths of the Crawfords’ children. As Lowen falls for Jeremy, the lines between truth and fiction become dangerously blurred.
