A Reunion Ten Years in the Making
Fans of Dr. Romantic will love this. Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin starred together in that hit series 10 years ago, and The Perfect Lie reunites them in a very different genre. You can read more about the earlier show on its Wikipedia page.
The Story
Min Joon Ho (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Kang Ji Sun (Seo Hyun Jin) share a perfect date after they first meet. Then an unexpected incident draws them into a situation where they suspect and turn against each other. The man and the woman give completely opposite accounts of the same memory and clash fiercely in their search for the truth. The core premise is that one of them is lying.
The Beach Scene
Newly released stills show their first meeting:
- The two face each other on a beach as the waves roll in.
- Min Joon Ho smiles as he offers a canned coffee.
- Kang Ji Sun, fresh from surfing, looks at him affectionately. The stills also reveal that surfing is her hobby.
The mutual attraction feels so natural that it looks like a romantic drama moment. That contrast with the fierce confrontation later is what makes viewers wonder what incident could change everything.
Why the Early Romance Matters?
The production team says the premiere will follow the two protagonists in sequence, from first encounter and growing attraction to the seemingly perfect date and what comes after. Because the story depends on whose memory is correct, the sweet early scenes will probably serve as clues. Keep an eye on small details.
The team also points to both actors’ nuanced portrayals of emotional shifts as a main draw.
