The Story: Who Is Lying?
A man and a woman give completely opposite accounts of the same memory, and they clash fiercely in a search for the truth. Min Joon Ho (Yoo Yeon Seok) is known for telling the truth. Kang Ji Sun (Seo Hyun Jin) insists her version of events is the real one. Neither will budge.
Meet Detective Lee Hwa Young
Caught between the two is Lee Hwa Young (Ok Ja Yeon), a lieutenant in the Women and Juvenile Affairs Division at Sangcheon Police Station. She’s rational, responsible and principled, and she’s determined to find out what’s hiding behind that seemingly “perfect first date.”
Through her eyes, viewers will keep guessing which of the two leads is lying, which turns the audience into detectives too.
What the New Stills Show?
In the newly released images, Lee Hwa Young is deep in her investigation, with minimal makeup and her hair tied back tightly. Her expression looks composed and indifferent, but her steady gaze suggests sharp instincts and a refusal to let the case go.
What the Production Team Says?
The production team described her as a character who pursues the truth amid the leads’ conflicting accounts, helping drive the story and holding an important key to the plot. They also praised Ok Ja Yeon for bringing her own touch to the principled detective and asked viewers to look forward to her performance.
Why It’s Worth Watching?
A he-said, she-said mystery works best when the audience doesn’t know who to trust, and a neutral investigator is the perfect guide. With a strong lead trio and a director known for emotional drama, The Perfect Lie looks like an intriguing weekend watch.
