What’s the Story? (Light Spoilers)
Netflix’s logline says Kate and Hal try to rescue their marriage as a shocking attack shatters the British-American alliance and invites a dangerous adversary. Behind it all is Poseidon, a Russian weapon that President Grace Penn and VP Hal Wyler conspired to steal. Kate knows, and the season is about what she does with that.
Creator Debora Cahn calls it “two couples strapped together in one car on a crumbling roller coaster.” Kate and Todd, an unlikely duo, team up to stop the Grace-Hal alliance.
The Cast, Briefly
- Keri Russell (Kate Wyler): politically isolated, holding a truth that could destabilise the world.
- Rufus Sewell (Hal Wyler): reconciled with Kate personally, yet tied to Grace’s dangerous plan.
- Allison Janney (Grace Penn): the President and freshly minted Emmy winner, now a series regular.
- Bradley Whitford (Todd Penn): the First Gentleman, tipped as the season’s most underestimated character.
- Rory Kinnear (PM Trowbridge): furious enough, per the trailer, to risk armed conflict.
- Aidan Turner (Callum Ellis): the spy who caught Kate’s eye last season.
- Jodie Whittaker: the biggest new addition, with her role still under wraps.
Why It Feels Fresh?
For the first time, the show shot in Italy, using Lucca and Florence as backdrops. A G7 Italia credential spotted in first-look photos hints at a summit storyline.
Its yearly schedule is rare for Netflix too. Seasons 2 and 3 also landed in October. Viewership has dipped each season, though, so strong numbers now matter for a possible Season 5.
